In memory of Dawn Irvine

Over 1.5 million in the UK have endometriosis and the impact of the disease is for some devastating, yet diagnosis takes on average 8 years. With your donations we are turning this around, raising awareness, providing support and information, supporting research, and campaigning for change.

Story

As many of you will know earlier this year I sadly lost my mum, Dawn Irvine to ovarian cancer. On Sunday 14th July, the day after what would have been her 47th birthday, Dundee Central Library are holding a walk in her memory. My mum had worked in the Dundee libraries for over a decade and it was a job that she truly loved.

In her memory we will be walking the Dundee Literary Trial, a project for which my mum designed an incredible, colourful map and a route that she herself had walked with other members of library staff a few years ago.

Through donations given on the day we are hoping to raise money for Endometriosis UK and the Eve Appeal. Endometriosis is an invisible illness that my mum had had for several years before her cancer diagnosis. This charity aims to support woman through this little discussed disease. The Eve Appeal conducts research for all five gyneological cancers, which are among some of the hardest to detect forms of cancer.

If you would like to make a donation in honour of my mum then please do so below, I just ask that you try to keep the amounts of the two charities equal as the money will be sent directly to the charities from JustGiving.
