.  When the starting gun goes off for the Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race on 13^th September 2009 in Hull the fleet of 10 stripped down 68foot yachts will embark on a full circumnavigation of the globe. I will be taking part and joining another 400 people in facing the challenge of a lifetime

 

From Europe across the Atlantic Ocean to South America, on to Africa, Australasia, Singapore, China, across the planet's largest expanse of water, the Pacific Ocean, to the USA, through the Panama Canal, one of man's great engineering triumphs, through the Caribbean to the east coast of the North American continent and back across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe.

 

The internationally sponsored yachts will finally cross their outward track to complete the circumnavigation shortly before the triumphant and emotional return to the Humber in July 2010.

As part of this challenge of a lifetime I would like the Helen and Douglas to benefit from my fundraising. Helen and Douglas house provide care and love to young children and adults whose lives are cut short and would never have the opportunity to do what i am doing. I want to at least give them a glimpse of this adventure, sharing my planning and the experience and hopefully raise some money at the same time.

I will be sailing aboard Team Spirit - the Australian sponsored boat and be with a crew of 16 and Skipper , all at this moment in time complete strangers to me. .
