At DBAS UK we aim to deliver support, research and hope to the DBAS community in the UK by bringing families together, communicating the latest medical information and funding research into causes and treatments.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.  We are raising money for DBA UK, a charity that supports 3yr old Alfie Filer from Bristol.

DBA is a rare blood condition characterised by an inability to produce red blood cells which are necessary to transport oxygen around the body.  Patients are usually diagnosed before the age of 2 and require extensive treatment, ranging from regular blood transfusions to high doses of steroids and bone marrow transplants.  The condition is extremely rare, affecting approximately 125 people in the UK and only 600-700 world-wide.

DBA UK aims to provide support, research and hope to families by bringing patients together, sharing the latest medical information and funding research into new treatments.

With your help DBA UK will be able to hold a conference of all DBA sufferers in the UK, providing crucial support to them and their families as well as supporting the pursuit of vital research into causes and cures.
