Story
Hi and thanks for taking the time to visit my sponsorship page. This is marathon number four and like previous, I'm running to raise much needed funds to provide a home, education and future for the children who live at the Mandeni hospice and orphanage in South Africa.
The Order of Malta’s AIDS hospice and Children’s home in Mandeni, South Africa is run by The Brotherhood of Blessed Gerard www.bbg.org.za 88% of the population of KwaZulu Natal is HIV positive and every day the Hospice ambulance goes out into the bush to pick up terminally ill patients from the most squalid and desperate surroundings. Most are young adults coming to the Hospice to have a dignified, clean and loved end to their lives. Meanwhile the orphaned children are cared in the Centre which becomes their home.
The Centre is funded 100% percent from charitable donations. There are no hand outs from the South African government or any sponsorship from big business. Your donations keep it going. So, please give whatever you can and I’ll run as fast as I can. I'm hoping to beat my previous record of 03:11 and break the three hour barrier.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Association of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now and help give these children something to smile about.
Many thanks for your support.
David
