Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In November 2009, following a routine ultra sound scan, our baby was diagnosed with total fetal heartblock. Simply explained, the electrical impulse making the heart beat at the correct rate was missing. An operation to fit a pacemaker would be required. Despite all the odds at one point being against him, Charlie made it to 38 weeks and was delivered at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on 17th February, weighing in at 7lb 11oz. He spent a week in the neo-natal unit at Shrewsbury before being transferred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for his heart operation. Charlie’s heart now beats at a steady 100bmp, mine still skips a beat when I look at him! During the many hours spent in various hospital wards over the last few months, we have received the most fantastic care and attention. The staff at both hospitals have been amazing, beyond our expectations. We’ve heard it all before haven’t we, fantastic people doing fantastic things on limited funds. The help we received during that period was invaluable. Lots of the support relating to our time there, accommodation, parking, even tea and coffee is only provided through the generosity of charitable donations. To persuade you to part with your money, I have decided to punish myself severely! I have even persuaded Gareth to do the same! On Saturday 15th May, Gareth and myself will be attempting to climb the Wrekin a record twenty times in 24 hours! Given that each ascent and decent takes approximately an hour and a quarter then this attempt is maybe a little optimistic. We are asking you to sponsor each climb and maybe pledge a bonus if we get to the magic twenty! Dig deep……
