I am 39 years old and have always enjoyed outdoor sports.I have been mountaineering for 15 years in the UK,alps and the greater ranges.I run to keep fit for climbing and since contracting cancer in 2009 my training has kept me positive through my treatment.I decided that i wanted to give something back to all the people that have helped me through this time and thought a sponsored ultra running challenge for cancer research would be a suitable choice.The marathon des sables,dubbed as "the toughest footrace on earth" is 150miles across the sahara desert in 40c temperatures while carrying all you need to survive for 6 days.I have been training for this for 2 years and hope i am ready to take on the challenge </p>
