We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

  • We are Rob and Debbie Frost, aged 52 and 50, from Slaithwaite, Huddersfield .
  • We have three sons, Robert aged 29, Daniel, 27 and Nathan, 20
  • We are currently in Spain taking a six months career break ( from October 2015 to April 2016 ) and enjoying the much improved lifestyle as we have begun to realise that life really is too short .
  • In November 2014 Debbie's brother , Chris Holderness , sadly passed away , aged just 59 , after a short battle with cancer .
  • Twenty years earlier , in November 1994 , Rob's father , Leonard , died from Non - Hodgkin's Lymphoma , or cancer of the lymphatic system , which spreads through the body's immune system. He fought this over a number of years and died at the age of 70.
  • We decided to take on this challenge during our time away in order to raise some money for the fight against cancer which affects so many lives.
  • However , after arriving in Spain in October , we discovered that Debbie's dad had developed pancreatic cancer and  only expected to live for a short period of time. Throughout the following weeks , covering Christmas and New Year he struggled with his fight against this and sadly , on Tuesday 9th February , he passed away.
  • So our challenge has now taken on a greater focus and we want to make a small difference in the huge fight against all types of this disease because hopefully in the future , together we will beat it .

  • PUIG  CAMPANA

Standing above the village of Finestrat and about 10km from the coastline, this famous mountain is visible from almost every part of BENIDORM. It never fails to impress whenever it catches the eye and is impossible to forget as it completely dominates the whole backdrop of Benidorm.

Perhaps the most noticeable feature is the large , perfectly formed notch , known in legend as  ' la Brecha de Roldan '. One version of this legend says that Roland , the commander of the Charlemagne army had a sword fight with the head of the Moorish army , which ended at the top of the mountain. As the Moorish leader fell to the ground, Roland lifted his sword to deliver the final blow but missed and the force ripped a large chunk of rock away which fell into the sea and is known today as the Benidorm Rock ,or Peacock Island .

The peak of Puig Campana stands at 1408 m. ( 4620 ft.) which in comparison , surprisingly surpasses the highest mountain in the UK , Ben Nevis , which has its peak at 1344 m. ( 4409 ft.)

We have decided that we should stop taking photographs and admiring this beautiful mountain , and get up to the top of it.

On Friday 11th March 2016 , we are going to walk together from the village of Finestrat to the summit of the mountain and back down again with the aim of raising some money for CANCER RESEARCH UK .

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and if you are able to make a small donation to our page then we are sure that it will be very gratefully received .

Debbie and Rob.
