After we decided to climb Kilimanjaro, many people asked us if we were doing it for charity - but we hadn't considered that, we were just mad enough to be doing it for the 'fun' of it. Now, after consideration, we have chosen to raise money for the MacMillan Cancer Support Charity.
Every year many of us are affected by someone close to us being diagnosed with cancer. In Kent alone last year, around 1,500 people were given this devastating news. MacMillan relies on around 99% of its income from various voluntary sources - from coffee mornings to legacies.
After raising £1,000,000, this year saw the opening of the new MacMillan Centre at Medway Maritime Hospital; some raised by the generosity and commitment of individual fundraising appeals.
Our climb begins on the 23rd January, 2010 and will take 6 days. Our web page has more details about the climb - what we are doing to train for this and more photo evidence of our training! www.kingcharleshotel.co.uk/climb
Please help us with our appeal and sponsor us on our Kilimanjaro climb. We know this will make all the difference and encourage us to both plod on up the mountain! Every penny counts, so even the smallest donation will give us more incentive to reach Uhuru Peak, after an 8 hour trek, at sunrise the morning of the 27th January.
