Back Up services include mentoring, wheelchair skills training and activity courses as well as support in getting back to work or school after an injury. We provide peer led tailored support to help people adjust to a spinal cord injury and inspire independence and confidence for a positive future.

Story

Well we all made it to the top of Kilimanjaro a mere 5985m on the morning of Wednesday 10th September.  A few tears were shed as we arrived at the top due to shere exhaustion.  Our biggest enemy was coping with altitude sickness and you have no idea when and how you are going to cope with it  and it is constantly on your mind.  Being sick 3 or 4 times in the day is apparently ok!  You walk at a snails pace and need to dig deep all the time.  Knowing that I was doing the climb for Back Up Trust was a huge incentive, all the time thinking how lucky I was to at least have the opportunity to have a go.  You are absolutely filthy and sleeping at night in our tents was diifficult and it is incredibly cold.  We were looked after by The African Walking Company who were absolutely brilliant. The experience was quite amazing although I have to admit it was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life and in all honesty not something I would be in a rush to repeat.

If you have already sponsored me THANKYOU so much.  It was a great incentive to know so many people were kind enough to be supporting me. If you havent then please give it some thought

Thankyou
