Hi there
I'm doing the Great North Swim on Sunday 13 September at Lake Windermere - see www.greatswim.org/gns.
Seemed a good idea at the time.....but anyway it's a great reason to raise some money for a local charity, the West Yorkshire Forget-Me-Not Trust, which aims to provide care and support for children with life-limiting conditions - see www.forgetmenottrust.co.uk for further info.
Not only is this my first swimming event ever, will also be my first ever open-water swim (perhaps I should have tried it first?). In addition, my preparation has included swimming in the arctic waters of Ilkley Lido all summer, having every measurement you can think of (and some you can't) taken for a wetsuit and then being called "Orca" when I tried it on!
So...your pledges will be both a real incentive for me to stay afloat, and a great contribution to a great cause where we can really see the money making a difference to people's lives.
Please give what you can - and any swimming tips appreciated!
Debbie
