Thank you for visiting our fundraising page in memory of our brother Graham Newstead.
Graham was diagnosed with advanced terminal lung cancer/secondary cancer to liver, kidneys and bones on 11th September 2008. Unfortunately at this late stage of the illness only palliative care was available and Graham was given 3-4 months life expectancy; Graham only survived 5 weeks and passed away on 14th October 2008. We told Graham that we were hoping to get into the London Marathon and raise money for charity - so this is for him x
Graham was only 44, active and a non-smoker, which has made it even harder to understand how he got this horrible cancer. Graham leaves behind his wife Helen; stepson Michael; mum and dad and us.
Lung cancer is the second most common cancer in the world and is known as the "invisible" or "forgotten" disease. Lung cancer receives only 3.9% of cancer research funding made available by the government and other cancer charities. Update: Julie finished London in 3hrs 48 mins & Debs in 4hrs 14mins. We will be running Edinburgh Marathon on 31st May 2009....
