I did it!
I ran the Great South Run in 2 hours 6mins and 41 seconds – a lot quicker than I thought and came in 10,798th place out of 18,500 entrants.
It was greulling, particularly in the dire weather - driving rain and blustery winds! Not great conditions for my first ever 10mile run! I was pleased to get to 8 miles without stopping though, however once you turned onto the seafront at Eastney you had a job walking against the wind let alone running - but my 'never say die' attitude made me run the last 1/2 mile and I crossed the finish line with a big smile on my face - from pure relief more than anything!
I can't say I will be doing it again....however I would recommend anyone who is thinking about doing it, GO FOR IT! It's a once in a lifetime experience, especially if your not a runner like me, and the atmosphere is fabulous!
Anyone visiting this page, who hasn't sponsored me yet, please do! As you can see, despite my best efforts,I haven't hit my target yet and would love to do so before this page 'runs out' in December.
That's it for now....got to treat my blisters!!! : )
Much love,
Debs xxx
