Story
Hey guys!
**MARATHON NOW COMPLETE - WILL BE UPDATING THIS PAGE SHORTLY! PLEASE DONATE STILL!!
My name is Deepak Shukla – a recent young grad from Warwick (www.myspace.com/deepimpakt), now living and apparently working in
London.
On October the 8th
I flew to the United States to run the third biggest marathon in the world for the British Asian Trust, a charity that is a member of The Prince's Trust –
The British Asian Trust serves as a conduit that British people can use to give charitable donations to the incredibly deprived children of the slums of India (if you've seen Slumdog Millionaire that'll give you an idea!). Having been able to visit family living in villages in India, walked past the slums of Delhi, Mumbai and Calcutta, I really would love to do something to change the fortunes of these people. This charity seems best fitted to help me achieve this goal.
This was my first ever marathon, and I flew all the way to Chicago to run this event – along with the other 45,000 participants of the world's third biggest marathon.
I would be really grateful, as would the British Asian Trust (and soon after these children), if you choose to sponsor me in this endeavour, crazy escapade, light headed whim of mine that took me across the Atlantic and had me running 26.2 miles of horror for you!
If you would like to sponsor me (and I hope you do!!) please leave a donation here of 20 pounds or more. Although the marathon is over it is still not too late to save a child's life. This page will go down by October 20th.
http://deepakdoesamarathon.wordpress.com/ - this is the blog I said I would keep, detailing my prep and the run itself.
I would love to have the support of yourself, along with any friends
of family you have
that would
like to support this cause which will prove a great aid for the deprived people
in this still developing country that is trying to raise 350 million children.
Many
thanks,
Your friend and sacrificial lamb,
Deepak!
