Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

UK Thalassaemia Society (Est. 1976) supports people affected by thalassaemia, a genetic blood disorder which requires lifelong blood transfusions & various other medical treatment. The charity offers support, advice, counselling & distributes information encouraging blood screening. It also organises conferences for patients & health professionals to keep them up to date on the latest treatments available.

Story

It is very exciting to be running the London Marathon again - this year, I have been offered a place to run for the Thalassaimia Society UK - a charity supporting a pupil at  Chandlings - the school at which I teach.

Sabrena suffers from a genetic blood disorder requiring daily twelve hour infusions, which involve a needle being inserted into her tummy, giving her medication throughout the night and monthly blood transfusions.

Despite Sabrena's condition, she is a happy, integrated member of her class.  This is an opportunity for Sabrena's friends to get a better understanding of her situation and a meaningful way for many children at school, to participate in helping her.

Donating through this site is simple and totally secure - and if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your donation at no extra cost to you.

So please sponsor me now !

Thank you -
