Story
Hi Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Now that you are here please read on:
On the 14 October 2010 I will be taking part in a challenge to ride a Motorcycle around India, raising much needed funds & awareness for Teens Unite a cancer charity supporting teenagers with cancer.
My Journey will start in Delhi, from where I will take the Shatabdi Express "A super fast train" up to Amritsar, where I will meet my "fixers" and collect my bike.
From there I will ride on to Wagah the only open daytime border crossing between India & Pakistan. Traveling on I head to Dharamsala high in the foothills of the Himalayas, the home of the Dalai Lama, and the Tibetan Government which is in excile.
Moving on takes me to the village of Bir which is the top Paragliding site in India. A tricky ride through the hills see's me in Manali, and the banks of the river Beas. Manali is the gateway to the High Himalayas, and the "Roof Top of the World" with its snow capped peaks.
Possibly the toughest ride of the trip along a dirt track and steep sides takes me to the top of the Jalori Pass at just over 10.000 feet from where the views should be spectacular.
From here a long & winding ride down through remote villages takes me to Rishikesh the Yoga Capital of the world.
The ride from here on should be fairly easy, as I follow the river Ganges, back towards Delhi, and completion of the trip, and a well deserved bath!.
I hope that I can complete this in 8-10 days, having riden some 4000 miles.
This challenge has been many months in the plannIng and it is with sincerest gratitude I would like to thank all the people who have offered their support & donated equipment to enable me to make this happen. This trip is self funded so every penny of your very Generous Donations will go to supporting Teens Unite and these kids.
I would also like to give a big thank you to Debbie Pezzani Founder of Teens Unite for allowing me the privilege in supporting her charity, and opening my eyes to the work they do.
So please dig deep now, get out your Credit cards or if you prefer you can send me a cheque made payable to Teens Unite (Indian Challege)
Today 6 teenagers will hear the words "you have cancer" 6 will hear it tomorrow, and 6 the day after.
Having taken the time to read this message, please give NOW tomorrow may be too late for some
Many Thanks for your support
Richard Mikula
PS Please email this on to someone you think would also like to donate.
