My story

My 2012 cycle challenge will be my hardest yet.  On Saturday 17 June 2012 I will be racing the sun!!  Setting off from Sunderland on the East Coast I will aim to race the sun to Whitehaven in the west, before it sets!!  140 miles across some of the hilliest terrain in the country.  The winds usually blow west to east too, so chances are it could be against the wind too.  Training has started.....

I have also been partaking in other cycle challenges over the last few months, In September 2011 I took part in the London to Brighton ride. I will also be partaking in London Nightrider in 2012.

As with previous years, I will be cycling in 2012 in memory of my daughter Melissa, who sadly died in May 2008, nine months after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Since she passed away over £17,000 has been raised in her memory, a phenominal amount and Julie, Becky and I can't thank you enough for all your generousity.

Lymphoma is the 5th most common cancer in the UK. It is the most common in the under 30s age group. The Lymphoma Associaton give support to anyone affected by lymphoma, including patients, family, carers, friends and their literature is also highly valued by the medical profession.

You can also sponsor me at Mel's Tribute Fund page at http://www.lymphomas.tributefunds.com/fund/Delilah+and+Me+(Cycling+for+Mel)/showFund/

oh and for those wondering about the title of my justgiving page... Delilah is the name of my bike!!
