I completed the full marathon in five hours five minutes on a lovely autumnal day - the sun was out and a brisk wind blew.

the run itself was challenging, but the streets were lined with well wishers, bands and families out to support their loved ones. The music and cheers kept my spirits up and this was much needed on my last 5KM - I hit 'the wall' and the pain was unbearable, tears fell and my spirit was shattered.

Through gritted teeth and my sheer stubbornness not to let failure grip me, I walked the next 2-4KM; I could see  Brandenburg Gate (the finish line) in the distance and knew the last KM was waiting for me...

Taking a deep breathe, I put my head down and gingerly ran the last KM, crossing the finish line, tired and worn.

Why did I put myself through such a mammoth task? Well, as some of you may know I had Post Natal Depression after the birth of my first child, nearly 12 years ago. I am not ashamed of  the fact I suffered from this illness as it's not something I chose to have and am telling you this and ran the marathon because I  want to help raise awareness and reduce  the stigma associated with this  and other mental health issues!!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DIG DEEP  - 10,000 WOMEN IN SCOTLAND EVERY YEAR ARE EFFECTED BY THIS DEBILITATING ILLNESS, ALONG WITH THEIR FAMILIES.

PLEASE HELP ME TO HELP OTHERS AVOID THE PROLONGED DARKNESS OF POST NATAL DEPRESSION!!  RAISING MONEY WILL HELP ENSURE BLUEBELL ARE ABLE TO GET HELP TO THOSE WHO NEED IT!!
