Our Thames Towpath Walk. From the source to the Thames Barrier approx 180miles

Hello, my name is Derek. two and a half years ago, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.

Last October,after a year and half of chemotherapy, I was lucky enough to receive a stem cell transplant. It has been a tough journey, but with lots support from my family and friends.

 I would like to give something back to all the people who have researched and developed the treatments that I have benefitted from.

.Saturday 2nd September Wallingford to Goring. The last walk!

We were joined by eighteen friends and family for the last walk.The weather was windy and drizzly but generally kind considering the forecast.

It was like one of those logic puzzles trying to plan which cars and which people should be in which place and when!! We did it though, almost seven miles and finally made it to Goring where everyone enjoyed a celebratory cream tea at the Swan Hotel, Streatley.

I just feel so pleased and proud  that I was able to complete this project.

We'd like to thank everyone who has joined us, Tony , who has been available to collect and deliver us to our various destinations and everyone who has donated so generously to this cause.

Finally, I thank our Lord who has had His hand on us all the way.

Our original target of £1000 has been more than trebled!!
