Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

In December 2008, my Father - Arthur, (pictured left), was diagnosied with cholangiocarcinoma, a very rare form of bile duct cancer.

We were told we had only a number of months left with our Dad, and that things would be emotional, stressful and very hard at times for him and the family. Especially my Sister who has Dad at her home - making the grand kids laugh a lot!

His Doctor referred him to a specialist at the Royal London Hospital, where he had 10 ops in 14 days to try and reduce his jaundice, and the back log of all the nasty things fueling the cancer.

We were told nothing can be done for him, but the Royal London kept pushing and pushing and now it seems an amazing pioneering treatment called PDT (Photo Dynamic Therapy) may be an option for him, it won't cure him - but every day is a bonus for all of us. We find out in a few weeks if he's allowed this treatment, so fingers crossed.

Throughout this period the Macmillan Cancer Support team have been very helpful to my Father, but also to my Sister and I, from just plain listening through to helping to sort out any care essentials and support he can have.

I am running this 10k to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, which is a big thing - given I haven't run a 10k in 15 years! So with 9 weeks to go, i'm running my socks off as we speak!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure.

So please sponsor me now for the Macmillan Cancer Support team.

Thank you

Derek :-)
