My name is Derek Simmons.  I will be the PR/Photographer for GB Deaf Women's Football Team and will be accompanying them to the 2009 Deaflympics in Taipei in September as a volunteer to take photographs and make reports for them.

I have supported the GB Women's Football Team since its formation in 2000 and have seen the team grow from strength to strength.  I was at the 2005 Deaflympics in Melbourne and saw the GB Deaf Women's Football Team win the Bronze medal and want to see and record them winning the Gold medal this time!

Unlike the British Olympic and Paralympic athletes and officials, the British govermment has refused to assist the Great Britain Deaf Olympic Team with funding so everyone, including myself and other volunteers, have to raise £3,000 each in order to go and represent our country.
