Live Life Then Give Life works tirelessly to save the lives of all those who need an organ transplant in the UK. Funds are used to raise awareness of organ donation and to fund projects that increase in the numbers of successful transplants that are carried out each year.
Henry and Ali have decided to do the London to Brighton bike ride this year AS FAST AS POSSIBLE to raise millions (ideally) of pounds for a very good cause.
We are cycling furiously for Live Life Then Give Life (www.lltgl.org.uk) (LLTGL). LLTGL was created to raise awareness of organ donation and the chronic lack of organ donors in the UK. It aims to encourage people to think and talk about the subject of organ donation and to try and encourage people to take the proactive step of signing the organ donor register.
LLTGL helps give those affected by transplant a voice within the media, educates the public with literature, talks and events, and supports those in need of a vital transplant, which due to the terrible shortage of donors in the UK may never come.
The lovely folk at LLTGL also won Campaigning Team of the Year at the Charity Times Awards 2008, so we need to make sure that they get their hands on loads of cash to continue doing the great work they do!
We have been inspired to do this and to raise money for LLTGL because of our dear friend Robyn Tainty. Robyn had cystic fibrosis and was on the organ donation list for a lung and heart transplant for years, but never got the call she was waiting for. She was a right little trooper and lived with more gusto than anyone I've ever met, until it all got too much for her and she died in September 2007.
This is why we're riding. PLEASE BE GENEROUS!!! It's an amazing cause. And put your name down on the Donor's list here.
I assure you we will be busting our guts to cover the 54 miles as fast as we can... no leisurely tootles through the country lanes, no midday pints and a ploughmans for us, oh no... blood, sweat, and almost definitely tears due to the chaffing await!
