Story
In memory of Angeline Patricia Barclay:
In late October we are taking part in the 2009 Sahara Race: this ultramarathon will see us running 160 miles in 6 days through the Sahara desert in western Egypt, carrying all our own supplies and equipment except water (www.4deserts.com/sahararace).
Why? To raise money for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of Tom's Mum, Angeline, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2004 after fighting the disease for 2 years. As team ''Desert Gentlemen'' we will complete the race with as much spirit, fortitude and stiff upper lip as we can muster! We are looking to win the team event...
By the time someone has symptoms, goes to their doctor and is diagnosed, pancreatic cancer is very often too advanced. The most recent data for patients diagnosed in England and Wales show:
87% of those diagnosed with pancreatic cancer will have died within 12 months of diagnosis.
- Pancreatic Cancer UK is the only national charity concentrating solely on pancreatic cancer, dedicated to funding research and providing support to patients and their families.
Please help us raise funds for this little known, yet highly aggressive form of cancer. Cancer will touch all of us in someway throughout our lives, directly or indirectly. It has already touched ours.
- Please give what you can.
