Story
Welcome to my page!
In late March 2009 I am going to be competing in the Atacama Desert Crossing. I will complete 5 marathons in 6 days at an elevation of over 1600 meters above sea level; effectively crossing the width of the most arid desert on earth! Whilst on my journey I'll be travelling across rivers, squishy salt flats, hard salt flats, through slot canyons and up the odd sand dune here and there.
To make it interesting, I've got to carry all my food and supplies for the 6 days on my back! Check out http://www.4deserts.com/atacamacrossing/ if you want to read more.
Whilst I am away I will be writing a blog before, during and after the race which you can read at http://www.4deserts.com/blogs/comptetior_blog_new.php?pid=NDMy&blog=12 if you fancy a laugh or two!
The proceeds from this page will be donated to the British Heart Foundation, specifically to fund the training of new nurses around the country to help combat, cure and help the fight against heart disease so please give generously!
Thanks for all you support,
Matt

In the meantime I'll update my page with the warm-up events that I'll be taking part in to get myself good and ready for laying down the law to the Atacama.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: British Heart Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
