The 2Simple Trust helps families of children suffering from neuroblastoma. Help is given by the provision of financial assistance for treatment and other needs as well as the funding of research into the disease. This work will shortly be transferred to a new charity set up specifically for the purpose and called The Neuroblastoma Children’s Cancer Alliance.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Desperate Housewives are trying to help raise a staggering £250,000 in order to save the life of a brave little boy called Jamie Inglis.  Jamie is four years old and is the son of a serving soldier with the British Army.

We will be holding a charity auction night on Elmpt Station on Friday, 26th February 2010.  If anybody has anything to donate for the auction, please contact us on desperatehousewives2008@yahoo.co.uk

There are also many sponsored events going on around Elmpt Station, including some DH husbands getting their chest and legs waxed, sponsored diets, sponsored cycle and two DH Members (Katie Mills & Marilyn Austin) will be doing a 12hr bean bath at a Family Fun Day on camp on 13th February 2010.  Again any further details, please contact me.

Please help us by giving as much as you can, or if you can’t afford to donate please pass this amongst your friends on facebook and via email

Jamie was diagnosed with an abdominal tumour in April of this year and after extensive tests Jamie was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Stage 4, where it was found that it was MYCN amplified (Aggressive) and the cancer had infiltrated his bone marrow too.

Even though Jamie has responded well to the initial treatment the chances of his cancer relapsing over the next year is very high.  The relapse is normally caused by microscopic cells which have survived the chemo and it’s referred to as minimal residual disease (MRD).  Unfortunately when the child relapses the prognosis is reduced significantly and the chance of a cure is very small.

A recent antibody trial in the States has been very successful as it targets the MRD and improves the chances of survival by 20%. This treatment may well become a standard regime in the future, however, Jamie does not have time as he will require this treatment within 90 days of completing his high dose which he is due to complete by Feb 2010.
