At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk

Story

Dexter is 4 and was diagnosed with Leukaemia on the 20th January 2018. The day before our lives were turned upside down he was sent home from school with a sore throat, the next morning he woke with a rash on his chest and within a few hours of arriving at the hospital we were told our little boy has cancer.

Needless to say it's been a very tough time but he's fighting like his favourite super heros! Since we shared our story through Mummy Social (the friendship and support website I set up for mums) so many people have been in touch asking how they can help. So we'd like to raise funds for the charity CLIC Sargent as they support families and young people fighting cancer.

They've supported us so much already, and on writing this we're only 11 weeks into a 3 year 8 week treatment plan! They gave us a house to stay in when Dex was being treated in hospital away from our home, they've given us a dedicated social worker who's lovely and has taken all the necessary form filling off our hands, and their nurses are simply amazing, both in looking after our son and us.

So please make a donation to support their work, we never thought we'd be in this situation, neither do any of the other families, but here we are! You can also purchase a #donate4dex t-shirt using the link below (he drew the picture of himself, with no hair, and his little sister under a rainbow) with all profits going to CLIC. AND/OR please be inspired to give blood! Dex has needed bucket fulls and if he can be super brave like Spiderman with all the needles he's faced so can you!

Whatever good can come from our situation we want to grab it and build a little legacy to tell Dex about when he's older so thank you for your support.

Much love,

Team Dex! Xxx
