WERF is a global charity fostering research into endometriosis to improve knowledge and treatments. WERF carries out well powered, international multi-centre trials, and support specific research projects investigating disease mechanisms. The vision is a day when no woman is crippled by endometriosis nor prevented by the disease from having children.

My story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I ran the London Marathon on 26 April 2009 (in 5 hours and 22 minutes) to raise money for much needed research in endometriosis to improve treatments for the millions of women around the world who, like me, suffer from endometriosis.

I chose the World Endometriosis Research Foundation (WERF) as my charity because I believe that the only way we will improve treatments for endometriosis, and one day find a cure, is through coordinating research – not just in the EU, but across the globe.

An estimated 100 million women in the world have endometriosis - during the prime of their lives! Yet there is no cure, and little funding to find one. This is a scandal!

Only through international collaboration will we see results benefiting all of us with this disease. If I reach my target of £20,000, WERF will be able to kick-start more basic research to increase knowledge and improve treatments.
