In March 2012 I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non Small cell Lung Cancer and given a 30% chance of survival.

I now have terminal lung cancer, and in February this year was told I have 6 months to live.

I couldn’t believe it, I felt so fit and well. I’ve never smoked and have always been healthy and active. I was a PE teacher up until 2009, I was a county netball player, I played basketball, I used to swim and run – I couldn’t believe I had cancer.

So after the devastating news I have set up a huge wall planner with some kind of activity or challenge planned for every month. Some challenges are smaller than others, but they are still challenges. They way I see it, I’m living with cancer, not dying with cancer. And I want to live the rest of my life in the most adventurous and extravagant way possible.

April - recovering from the chemotherapy.

May- I took my son Stewart on a luxury holiday.

I then was very fortunate to be put forwards by my clinical nurse Kerry Roden for  the The Odyssey Time Out Adventure this when I had the mad idea to join the organisations Charity Cycle ride and volunteered my sister in law Hermione for the challenge as well.

I didn't no ifI would be fit enough so on returning from this adventure I rejoined the gym and was determined to get fit.

June - I am now going to the gym at least 5 times a week

July-  I have set myself the challenge of planning my life party – which is exactly as it says – a party and celebration of my life. The way I see it is that I want to see and celebrate with my relatives, and I’m not going to be able to do that when I’m in a coffin. So it’s going to be a glam party, everybody is wearing posh frocks and there’s going to be lots of food and entertainment. I’m also going to be raising money on the night which will go to Odyssey.

July - a big family hoilday in Cornwall camping well everyone else will be I will be in my T5 camper

In August I plan to take on the challenge of painting my newly built house at the bottom of my garden and moving out of my home.

September - I’m going to be taking on the toughest challenge of them all – cycling 250 miles from Cardiff toCaernarfon to raise money for Odyssey. I haven’t been on a bike in years, I haven't even got a bike but I am determined to do this for the charity that bought me back to life.

Time is precious. I know I’m going to die, so I’m going to make the most of the time I’ve got left. I’m not going to just sit and wait for it to happen.
