Highland Hospice provides specialist care and support to terminally ill patients and their families in the Highlands. We have an In Patient Unit in Inverness, provide day care across the region and offer bereavement counselling for relatives. We aim to provide dignity when time matters most.

Story

Alright Troops,

A group of us are planning to run the Inverness Half Marathon in memory of my Big Bro Stuart Dillon. The Inverness Half is on Sunday March the 11th 2012.

For those of you who don't know Stuart he was a PE teacher who worked at Fortrose Academy. He was a big guy with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Not only was he an amazing role model for his pupils, he was a loving Husband, Son and Brother. He was always very popular where ever he went and was kind, loyal, full of life and generally a great all round guy. He was cruelly diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2003 and sadly lost his battle with cancer on the 10th March 2005 aged only 30 years old.

We want to raise as much money for the Highland Hospice who were so supportive during Stuarts Illness. They cared for Stuart during the last weeks of his life and supported all of our family throughout. They are quite simply amazing and went above and beyond to provide the best possible care.

As part of the support for the Hospice our Mum, Babs Dillon, is going to travel to Zambia next October where she will canoe the Zambizi River, take part in a bunji jump and then work on a Hospice project over in Zambia (not bad for a 64 year old, I mean 44 year old!!). This is to help celebrate the Hospice 25 year anniversary and she needs our help to raise as much money as possible. Therefore we are calling our runners 'The Dickie D Zambia Challenge Team'. 'Dickie D' being Stu's nickname at uni!

So please give as generously as you can. Every pound and penny will help the hospice continue to provide amazing care and support for people and families that are in need. It will also be added to the Stuart Dillon Tribute Fund which currently stands at over £23000. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and give all you can.

Look forward to reading your messages of support, we will need them!!!! Thankyou all in advance.

Cheers

Morris Dillon - on behalf of all the awesome members of the team
