Story

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Your generosity is really appreciated and will help many people.

Before the marathon took place I had intended to Ski a half marathon (13.1 miles or 21 kilometers per day) for 3 days back to back. A total of 39.3 miles.

As the day approached and the sponsorship began to flood in, I decided that I had better pull my finger out and have a shot at the full distance.

On Friday the 23rd of January in miserable wet cold  and cloudy conditions. I completed 27 miles.

On Saturday 24th of January visibility was poor but it had stopped raining. I completed 38 miles.

On Sunday 25th of january in perfect conditions, blue sky, sun etc. I completed 44 miles.

A total of 109 miles covered in 3 days.

I had hoped to raise the sum of £2000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust, but due to the overwhelming generosity of my mates, I managed to smash that target and donations are still coming in.

The group that skied consisted of 15 people. Three of us have MS and one Lady has only one leg! All of us completed the challenge. To date the group has raised with this one event somewhere in the region of £50,000.

Next year the Monster Ski is intending to take on a challenge in Whistler, so if you are up for a fun exciting challenge and would like to raise money for a worthy cause then please join us.

Thank you from all of us.

Thanks for getting this far!

In December 2002 I was diagnosed with the illness Multiple Sclerosis. It was a shock; I was 41 years old and the father of 2 small girls. I was fortunate enough to receive good treatment straight away. As I understood more about the disease I started to realise how lucky I was that the disease was found in its early stages, and that I would be able to live a normal life style. I was extremely lucky.

Since my diagnosis I have been involved in Bayer Schering’s European Patients Advisory Board (EPAB) which helps in the development of products and treatments for MS patients. I have also been involved in the promotion of the early detection of MS.

In my travels I came into contact with the MS Trust. I foolishly agreed to ride a push bike from London to Paris in the summer of 08 to support them. I must have been drunk when I said that. Needless to say I cocked on that adventure.

Since then I have been wrestling with a bad conscience. In order to make amends and come good on my promise I have decided to support the MS trust by taking part in their  Monster Ski Challenge, which takes place in Engelberg, Switzerland 22nd- 26th January 2009.

I intend to Ski a half marathon (13.1 miles or 21 kilometers per day) for 3 days back to back.

I would like you to dig deep into your pockets and help me support this worthy cause by sponsoring me. Every penny helps.

Please help me to help others.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: MS Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Thanks

Seitdem plagt mich mein schlechtes Gewissen. – 26. Januar in Engelberg, Schweiz, statt.

Jeder Pfennig hilft.

Dankeschön
