Welcome to my MARATHON CHALLENGE page!
**Stop press** I'm two-thirds of the way through my challenge! Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon 1:36, Hastings Half 1:38 Only the big one to go!
The challenge...
In 2009 I'm planning to run (at least) three long distance races in aid of the Royal National Institute for the Deaf.
This challenge includes the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon in February, the Hastings Half Marathon in March and culminates with the London Flora Marathon in April.
That's a total of 52.4 miles not including training runs!
The charity...
While slogging it out in training I'll also be trying to raise as much money as possible for the Royal National Institute for the Deaf (RNID).
Every year the RNID provides invaluble support for people who are either deaf or hard of hearing. It does this by providing help, advice, equipment and supported housing. The RNID is also actively involved in medical research aimed at improving the lives of those who cannot hear. For more details about the RNID please click here www.rnid.org
Geeky running stuff
If you're a bit of a running anorak you might be interested to learn that I hope to do these runs in the following times: the half marathons in 1 hour and 40 minutes and the marathon in 3 hours and 50 minutes. This will be my first marathon so it will be amazing to crack the 4 hour mark.
Where you come in!
Please dig deep and help me reach my fundraising target of £1600. It's an ambitious challenge but your support is worth its weight in gold.
Justgiving stuff
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: RNID gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thanks for your kind support!
