On Sunday 5th October I will be running the London Half Marathon. I have chosen to raise money for the Hospice of St Francis in Berkhamsted.
A very good friend of mine, Ali Rainback was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in November 2007 and sadly passed away on 22 June 2008. Ali was a talented and inspirational ski instructor. I was lucky enough to train with him while we progressed through the British Ski Instructors system, and later we worked together and went on to start a very successful ski school together in Courchevel, France.
Ali was fortunate to spend his last 7 weeks at The Hospice of St Francis, Berkhamsted, where he received the specialist palliative care that only they can provide. Ali felt safe, comfortable and happy in the warm and loving environment created by the dedicated professionals caring for him and which should be available to everyone.
I visited Ali at the hospice and I was simply amazed with the care he received and the fantastic facilities that the hospice provided for both Ali and his family. It is for this reason and because of the speed Ali’s life was taken from him, from diagnoses to passing away I am running the half marathon for Ali, and the hospice.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Hospice Of St Francis (Berkhamsted) gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now with as much or as little as you can afford.
Many thanks
Dinga
