On the 6th April I will be starting what's dubbed as the "Toughest Footrace in the World" the Marathon des Sables across the Sahara desert in Morocco.
But ths is ain't no walk in the park...Not unless you like spending 7 day's in the Sahara desert where temperatures reach 50 degrees daily whilst carrying all of your food, clothes & sleeping kit and showering isn't an option. I'll be running 171 miles (250k's) against elite athletes ahead of me and the dreaded camel sweepers behind me chasing my tail and if they catch me I'm out of the race.
In October of 2013 I ran the Kalahari Extreme Augrabies Marathon in South Africa for Pancreatic Cancer and I will continue rasing money for this cause in memory of my dad and my work colleague and friend who both died died from Pancreatic Cancer. I don't need to tell you that it has one of the worst survival rates and that 8,500 UK people will be diagnosed in 2014 alone.
I know times are tough but if you can donate anything to the research fund it would be for a great cause & of course give me that little bit more of a reason to finish what I've started: The 29th Marathon des Sables.
