Ahoy me hearties!

On 24th May I a taking part in a sponsored walk. I will be walking 12 miles along the Tow Path in London from Tottenham Hale to Camden. I will also be dressed as a Pirate.

It is to raise money for a youth and community boating project called the Pirate Club, read all about it here. http://www.thepiratecastle.org/

For now a brief overview: The Pirate Club is based in Camden where they have an amazing building called the Prate Castle -it is a real castle! For the past few months it has been being refurbished and expanded

in order to make it:

More accessible for everyone
Provide real assessable showers for everyone - previously they had none at all.
Allow it to be rented to other groups for social and community events
Let the Pirate Club do more land based activities

Currently they are running Kayak sessions on the the Regent's Canal out of a tiny motor boat, not practical at all and it means not everyone who wants to can participate.

Why the Pirate Club?

When I was at school I was able to go kayaking and sailing in Christchurch. This was with both pupils from my school and a special needs school. It was great fun and not much expertise was needed in the boats we were equals. Now I work and volunteer at that special needs school in the summer with the same people I learned to kayak and sail with, we are still equals.

I would like children and young people in London to have the same opportunities that I did and even better if it has a piraticle theme!

The Inland Waterways around the country mean a lot to me. Anything which highlights them and their uses has my approval. One day I plan to live on a narrow boat on the canal. In fact I'll be walking from of my best friend's boats to an other's!

I volunteer with the Waterway Recovery Group see it here! http://www.wrg.org.uk/

It is a predominantly a conservation Charity which restores canals around the country and provides site and service stewards for various waterway festivals. Every year Canalway Cavalcade takes place in little Venice outside Paddington station. For many years the Pirate Club has provided us with accommodation on one of their narrow boats. I would like to thank them for this kind gesture which has helped the festival to run smoothly for many years.

Any land lubbers or pirates who want to join in can find all the details on the pirate club website

Please dig deep in your coffers, and sponsor me online!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Pirate Club will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you, simply tick the gift aid box.

Thank you all very much!
