Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
This August I am taking part in an expedition to climb Mount Kenya to raise money for Sewa International. Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa (after Mount Kilimanjaro).
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Sewa International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
All money donated with go to Sewa Interational for projects in Kenya - none of the money will be used for trekking expenses, which is paid by the individual trekkers. Projects that Sewa International has previously supported through Charity Through Adventure include:
Conservation Aid Projects (Ndyaka Dam): The purchase, planting and nurturing of tree saplings in the forest conservation area was funded to help with the work and the efforts of the local communities.
Social Welfare Projects: Funding was provided for acquisition of portable tractors to help yield better crops and achieve self sufficiency for the families in the farming communities in Kenya.
Education Aid Projects (Nairobi): Providing bursary to impoverished students in Jamhuri High School (Previous Duke of Gloucester School). Bright students facing financial hardship, often as a result of losing one or both parents, are helped through this scheme to continue and complete their education.
Medical Aid Projects (Mombasa): Eye-operations were funded to help those with visual impairment and help restore the sight of many, giving them personal independance and a new lease of life.
Water Aid Projects (Famine area): Sewa funded projects for the construction of Bore-Wells in rural areas where people face extreme hardship for obtaining water. The areas were selected after obtaining geological reports and professional guidance so as to optimise the usage of the water. The village communities were trained to maintain the hand pumps and to ensure fair & sustainable water supply.
Food Aid Projects (Kenya): Distribution of emergency medical aid & food supply was funded to elevate hardship and human suffering. The project helped save lives of the most vulnerable in the communities- the children, the old & the sick.
So please sponsor me now!
