Welcome to the other 'Dirty Bakers Dozen', a knacker (our collective noun for a group of walkers) made up of a motley crew from Bucks apart from one who originates from the country that does not hold the Ashes. Our challenge is to complete the Cotswold Way a walk of 103 miles in 3.5days.

After much deliberation the DBD team has been selected. Up front and Captain, Geoff 'Geresy' Morgan, his wingmen Matt 'Bailey' Fowler and Andrew 'Kingy' King, the midfield marshalled by Keith 'KP' Patten with Colin 'Naglegator' Nagle and Matt 'Jelly' Eyles. The back four Mark 'Shearer' Edwards, Nick 'Barbs' Barber, Dan 'Oz' Senior and Robbie 'Jonesy' Jones and, filling the goal, Chris 'Sketch' Sketchley. In the January transfer window we were able to bring in Ian 'Rhino' Hunt our friendly northerner from Leeds who we expect to bring on as an 'impact walker'!! Finally and by no means least our trainer  with soft hands and warm sponge, Emma 'Ems' Sawyer who has warned us that we must take on plenty of fluids after each hard day's walking. Been noted! A walk over a few days needs back up and we are fortunate to have our own 'Thelma & Louise', Steve and Heather Boxall, who are providing much needed transport of clothing, hair gels, straightners, creams!  between hotels.

Our thanks also goes to :-

Iturri -  for providing the much needed comfortable footwear.

Maximuscle - for providing bars & drinks to keep our highly tuned bodies re-energised and aid recovery.

Leg 1 PM Monday 19th July- Chipping Campden to Cleeve Hill - 23.5 miles
Leg 2 Tuesday 20th July - Cleeve Hill to Kings Stanley - 32.3 miles
Leg 3 Wednesday 21st July - Kings Stanley to Tormarton - 29.5 miles
Leg 4 Thursday 22nd July - Tormarton to Bath - 16.8 miles

The purpose of this challenge is to get some of the fat boys fit (note two in the photo) but most importantly to raise much needed funds to save lives by aiding the purchase of cancer detection equipment for Scannappeal.

You can follow the training progress of the team as they train to peak fitness!! and follow the challenge at the following blog http://knackerofwalkers.blogspot.com/

Pain is only temporary, failure is not an option.

Please donate, it will be an item on the credit card bill that you won't have to hide from your partner!!

Cheers

Geoff
