ChildLine is the UK's free and confidential, 24 hour helpline for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn. Children call ChildLine about a wide range of problems, but the most common problems are abuse (both sexual and physical), bullying, serious family tensions, worries about friends' welfare and teenage pregnancy. Children and young people can call ChildLine about anything – no problem is too big or too small. ChildLine is a service provided by the NSPCC

Story

Well, we made it!

Check out the pic of the lovely Mr Johnny Martinez and myself at the top - non-stop, no handrails, and after a quick recovery to check out our times and grab a goody bag we ran, nay bounded up the last, short, spiral staircase to the champagne reception in the bar.
No pictures of the amazing (although rather damp) views, as we foolishly stuck to the rules and, it seems, were the only ones at the top with no cameras!

Thank you all so much for your support, you've all been brilliant, and just in case you were waiting until I'd made it to donate, the page stays open until June 4th ...

Cheers, everyone :)

------------------------------------------------------------

Don't forget you can also text DMGF70 £# to 70070 (Where # is the amount - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10) and Vodaphone pass the whole amount on to the pot. I don't think that qualifies for GiftAid, though.

------------------------------------------------------------

Updated on Feb 25th 2012 at 12:10 AM from the JustGiving API

My running gear has arrived (See pic) - slightly disturbed by the idea of me in a vest!

------------------------------------------------------------

Updated on Feb 25th 2012 at 12:07 AM from the JustGiving API

£100 :D Thanks everyone, that's brilliant :)

------------------------------------------------------------

Updated on Feb 17th 2012 at 8:46 PM from the JustGiving API

Off to a good start - thanks to all who have donated so far :) x

------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you probably know, I do run a bit and I like to raise cash occasionally, hopefully without bombarding you too much.
So; here's the story:
Last Summer, just for the hell of it, I ran up the steps to Whitby Abbey, of which there are 199, and nearly died.
I've just been given the opportunity to run up the steps of The Gherkin (that's a big building in that London, for you Northern types!) of which there are 1,037.

Yes, you read that right. A thousand. And then another thirty seven.

So, if you like the idea of me actually expiring and feel that's worth paying a few quid to make it happen - or, more optimistically, if you think that my sheer stubborness will get me up there and are willing to put your money where your mouth is please do so!

Now for the official blurb:
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

P.S.
