Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I'm doing this walk in memory of my wife Bev, who sadly died from cancer in May last year, aged 58. She always wanted us to do this walk together in retirement, but she was never well enough to complete it, before she passed away in St Gemmas Hospice, Leeds. So now I'm completing the walk as a memorial to Bev and hopefully raising funds for St Gemmas where she spent her last days.
Bev was always trying to help people; as a district nurse, working in the Burmantofts area of Leeds for 25 years, she actively raised money for several of her patients, organising and participating in sponsored events. She nursed and helped lots of people less fortunate than herself in life and was always a positive, caring woman with a lot of time for others and their problems.
She requested in her will that her ashes be scattered along the shores of Grasmere in the Lake district, where we spent a lot of time walking. I will be in Grasmere on day 3 of my C2C walk to carry out her wishes.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St. Gemma's Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support and wish me luck! ......Dave
