Kenwood Piddle Dash · 9 March 2008

The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation has two aims, the first to promote independent worldwide research into all aspects of prostate cancer; and the second to spread the crucial knowledge gathered from that research as far afield as possible, via an internationally recognised forum, attended by the world’s top prostate cancer experts. The Prostate Cancer Research Foundation is also the home of the Bob Monkhouse ‘Give a few bob’ campaign www.giveafewbob.org.

Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

Our dear husband and father Michael passed away on 7th December 2007. Michael was treated for prostate cancer, but after undergoing surgery and radiotherapy he found there was no further treatment available to eradicate the cancer.

In Michael’s memory we are raising money to fund a research project into advanced stage prostate cancer. The project is being undertaken at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel.

Michael visited the Institute on several occasions and was extremely impressed by their pioneering research. Our support will make the study attractive for a pharmaceutical company to be involved and develop the project to generate a new drug to fight prostate cancer.

In order to raise funds for the project, we are organising the Kenwood 10km Piddle Dash on Sunday 1st June 2008. One of the first symptoms is the need to go to the toilet frequently, but for very small quantities of output – hence the name Piddle Dash!  Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men in the UK, killing 10,000 men each year; the equivalent of 1 man every hour.

Thank you in advance for your support – it means a huge amount to all our family.
