My story

Thank you for visiting the Do it for Dawson fundraising page.

Sadly, Al Dawson lost his battle with cancer, aged just 16. Since then, friends and family of Al have worked to keep his memory alive and raise money in his name.

This summer, 3 events will be taking place to raise sponsorship and donations for cancer charities in memory of Al. Please support this worthwhile cause by donating what you can, to support all those participating in these events.

Do it for Dawson - 28th June
Do it for Dawson celebrates Al's life and hopes to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust and Cancer research UK.
Based around a group relay, teams of around 8-15 people are formed, with the idea being for one member to be on the track throughout the day.
Last year, we had groups running around the track, but also walking together, tandem cycling, hopping, skipping and at one point making a 200m long conga!

Throughout the day, ourself and the teams taking part will provide various stalls, games, raffles, competitions and entertainment for everybody there, hopefully making Do it for Dawson a fun day out for all ages and sizes, no matter if you are in a team of not!

So, please, show your support  by donating what you can to sponsor everyone who is dedicated to Doing it for Dawson!

We thank you in advance, and hope to see as many of you as possible on the day!

QEGS Staff 112 miles Tour De France Mountain Stage - July 15th
Two QEGS staff, Al Rees and Tom Brunt, will be cycling a challenging route through the French Alps this summer to raise funds for the Do it for Dawson campaign.

They will be climbing 3 mountains - The Col de la Croix de Fer; The Col du Galibier; and L'Alpe d'Huez - in just one day. Fortunately for them, another staff member, John Lister will be on hand to provide back-up and hopefully record their success!

Coast2Coast                                                                                                                           This summer, Mrs Firth and Dr. Lord - both staff at QEGS - will be embarking on their own cycling challenge! Following a lifetime ambition of Mrs. Firth, the pair will be tackling Britain's infamous Coast to Coast bicycle trail, raising further money in memory of Al, coinciding with what would have been his 18th birthday.
