We are the Dolman twins, Megan and Becky, we are 17 years old and we were born with a cleft lip and palate. Even before we were born, the repair surgery had been planned and our lips were repaired at one day old. We've had some other surgery over the years and a fair bit of dental work but the braces came off aged 15 and we've smiled ever since!

Every child born with a cleft anywhere in the world should have the opportunity to live a full, productive life.

Clefts are a major problem in developing countries where there are millions of children who are suffering with unrepaired clefts. Most cannot eat or speak properly. They're not allowed to attend school or hold a job. They face very difficult lives filled with shame and isolation, pain and heartache. Their clefts usually go untreated because they are poor – too poor to pay for a simple surgery that has been around for decades. Smile Train has provided free cleft surgery for children in 87 countries and every single child with a cleft can be helped with surgery that costs as little as £150 and takes as little as 45 minutes..

We want to do something to raise some money to help as many children as possible to have a full life.

On August 2nd we, and our family, are attempting to walk coast to coast across England. We will be walking 192 miles, over 13 days, through 3 national parks and will climb and descend more than the height of Mount Everest. We are not walkers and have never been on a walking holiday let alone tried anything quite so ambitious as this - but that is the challenge!!
