On the 12th and 13th of December I have foolishly persuaded myself to pedal for 24 hours non-stop in front of thousands of shoppers at the Metrocentre.
I know this is utterly ridiculous and I’m sure there are easier ways to work up a thirst and an appetite for Christmas but I’ve said I will do it so here we go……..
The hardest part of this challenge will be through the night when you’re all tucked in bed dreaming of Christmas and the good times ahead. I’ll keep motivated and over come the pain if I know my efforts will make a difference to people who don’t currently have a Christmas to look forward to.
There are many children right here in the North East who will wake up on Christmas day with nothing, and while we enjoy our plump turkey and raise a glass, there will be people in hospital wards across the country dealing with the pain and suffering that cancer brings.
So, I would like raise at least £5,000 and donate the money equally between Cash For Kids to help disabled and disadvantaged children and The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. I expect most of the cash I raise to come from generous Christmas shoppers and I’d love you to come down and support me on either day. If you can’t make it down I’d really appreciate a ‘Just Giving’ donation.
Just to allay any fears ….i don’t actually ride around the malls on my bike…….it’s a bit of spinning bike contraption that I’m going to become quite acquainted with; I’ll be in the main exhibition square if you can pop down.
Thanks Dom
