COSMIC was founded in 1994 to raise money for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London, which now treats around 500 desperately sick children every year. COSMIC raises money through a number of events each year, and is heavily supported by families whose lives have been touched by the PICU. All funds are used to provide life saving equipment, to provide support and accommodation to parents and to fund training, education and an internationally significant research programme at Imperial College London looking at the causes, effects and treatment of childhood diseases.

Well that was an experience!! Everything went fabulously well for the first 12 miles but then a knee injury started playing up so my finish time was 4:27:48. An amazing experience but not one I'm looking to repeat. Thanks for all your support, and if you haven't donated yet you can still give using the form linked below!

I am extremely proud to be running the London Marathon this year for COSMIC. As I’m sure you know, Niamh was taken seriously ill in 2007 and was transported from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital to St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington by a very special retrieval service for children too sick to be moved from other hospitals without a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The ‘Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance’ was entirely paid for with funds raised by COSMIC. She was then treated by the most phenomenal team of staff, again using equipment purchased with charitable donations. Without St Mary’s PICU and COSMIC, Niamh may not have survived.
