Well its all over - all 4 hours and 17 minutes of it. Not quite the 4 hours I was hoping for but to be honest I was just glad to finish by the end of it all!! Having trained by myself for the majority of the time it was very strange to be surrounded by thousands of people on the day and to have people lining the streets watching - all very surreal. Looking back now I can't really remember much about the run itself but it certainly is a great event - I recommend it to everyone. I did manage to pass the Massi warriors and a couple of naked men (ok from the back) but the highlight was seeing Wendy,Emily & Darren at mile 21 and stopping for a quick kiss. A big thank you to the Samaritans for laying on the Hotel Suite after the race. It was great to meet everyone and have a nice cup of tea and a bath!! Thanks too, to Mem for driving me around the 'track' on saturday and to my Mum and Dad for the pasta supper and a peacefull night before the big day. And most important of all, Wendy for her encouragement, love and bathing the children when I was out running x. But the biggest thanks goes to everyone who sponsored me and supported me - a really unbelievable amount, thank you all, it means a great deal and will help enormously with the running of our branch. With much love Dom x A HUGE THANKYOU to everyone for your generosity in helping me reach my target. (Don't worry, there is still time to donate if you wish to!). It's been great to read all the comments which will keep me going (along with the pressure!) on the day. Thankyou all so much. We have managed to get some publicity for the branch through the local Stockport paper - see photo above - which will be out this week and I have managed to complete some long runs over the past few weeks so it should all be ok on the day barring any snow/protesters/sun etc... Shout (anything will do!) at me on the day if you see me and I will post all the gory details on the site next week. Happy Running! Love Dom x Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Well its been a long slog - deciding to run the London Marathon on Sunday 13th April 2008. I've never done a marathon before but always quite fancied the challenge. It was only when I went for my first run back in September that I realised it was going to be harder than I thought. Its a long way!! I'm aiming to post a time under 4 hours and now that's written down I can't pretend otherwise - we'll see! Anyway, most importantly, its all in aid of the Stockport Samaritans Branch, of which I have been a member for the past 3 years. We are a relatively small branch (apprx.58 people) amongst the 202 branches that there are in the UK and Ireland. We are responsible for our own fundraising and I am hoping that the amount raised will pay our telephone bill for 2008. We take over 15000 calls during the year and require roughly the same amount in pounds to run our branch as successfully and professionally as we do. Our branch website is http://www.samaritans.org/stockport/ and well worth a visit for anyone interested. I will do one more update before the event and then one after its all over - with (hopefully) photographic evidence!! Untill then many thanks for your support, with best wishes/kind regards and love from Dom x (Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Samaritans will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.)
