Story
Hi
I have worked in aid and technical assistance for some years. Nowadays many so-called aid programmes use large consortia, led by consultants with large daily fee rates and subsistence costs to match. The amount of resource, ownership and discretion received by the able, willing and clever people who need help is minimal. NGO’s are squeezed out of this funding model: Yet NGOs have by far the best understanding of local needs and a track record of working closely, in genuine partnership, with people with problems.
African revival is one such NGO: It is organised to maximise the input of people in places such as Sudan, Malawi and Uganda, giving them input and discretion in projects to help their communities directly. This is what attracts me to African Revival and I hope you will support African Revival by sponsoring me to run the London Marathon.
This will be my first marathon. Not only will I run it but I will run with a trombone and will periodically play excerpts from ‘Also Sprach Zarathustra’, by Richard Strauss, and Shostakovich’s eighth String Quartet, Chamber Symphony and Tenth Symphony.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: African Revival will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
Donald
