30,000 women are made redundant each year in the UK just for being pregnant
Women are paid 17.1% less than men for doing work of equivalent value
Only 7 out of every 100 rapes in England and Wales results in a conviction
There are only two Black women MPs, and there has never been an Asian woman MP
Fawcett is the only charity in the UK working to close the equality gap between women and men. Our vision is of a society in which women and men enjoy equality at work, at home, and in public life.
We make real differences in women's lives by creating awareness, leading debating and driving change. Our recent campaigning successes include:
- Securing a change to the way lap dancing clubs are licensed, giving local authorities more powers to regulate the clubs and local people greater powers to stop them opening
- Raising awareness of the postcode lottery of rape conviction rates in England and Wales, by publishing figures obtained from the Government highlighting growing gaps between police force areas
- Closing a loophole in the Equality Bill that threatened to make it easier to discriminate against expectant mothers in the workplace, together with the Alliance Against Pregnancy Discrimination
As the only national charity for equality between women and men, we rely on your donations to keep the campaign active and independent. Please donate today to make us stronger
