Hello,

On September the 12th I'll be running the challenging, painful, gruelling, blistering, yet thoroughly enjoyable* 26.2 miles of the Médoc Marathon.

In addition to getting a huge kick out of completing it for my own gratifcation, I'd also like to take this opportunity to get a huge kick out of raising money for my favourite charity, Mencap.

Why Mencap? My inspiration is my adorable younger brother Matthew. Matthew had a brain abscess when he was 2 years old. The operations he had at the time went well, and although he has only been affected by minor disabilities, it's not been easy for him. Mencap aims to put a stop to bullying and discrimination and fights for equal rights and opportunities for people with learning disabilities.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

* Wishful thinking?
