Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: St Benedict's Hospice, Sunderland gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
This time last year St Benedict's looked after my husband and supported my family through the nightmare of Cancer, My husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on the 10th November and sadly he passed away on the 13th December at the age of 49. Staff and volunteers at the hospice were amazing and helped us in everyway they could. My husbands was keen that donations and tributes would go towards services at St Bens and that through his wife and his son's he could thank the staff for helping us through an impossible situation. I always remember the relief on my husbands face when a Doctor at St Bens said he could stay and they would take care or him. St Bens also supported me and my two boys in saying goodbye and still gave me every opportunity to care for my husband the way I would have done from home.
My husband was amazingly brave and we love and miss him every minute of every day. he would be proud that his wishes are being followed and he can perhaps help others to have the care and dignty that he had been given.
St Benedict's is needing to raise £400,000 to expand their Hospice and Home Service.
I will be running the Redcar Half Marathon in April .
So please sponsor me now!
