Thank you for visiting our fundraising page and supporting us. Any amount you can give would be great, the more the better.

But even £2 would be fantastic!

Who are we?

We are serving firefighters, Adrian Mantle from Bedminster and Pete Marsh from Bath.

What are we doing?

As well as raising money we are delivering a much needed Ambulance to The Gambia Fire and Ambulance Service. The vehicle was donated by Wessex Ambulance Service to enable us to take part in the "Plymouth/Banjul challenge". www.plymouth-dakar.co.uk

We will be leaving Bristol on December 28th this year and should arrive in Banjul, The Gambia around 3 weeks later. The 3700 mile trip will take us across Europe, through Morocco and into the Sahara Desert, eventually travelling through Senegal to The Gambia.

Why are we doing this? (Good question!)

Having both flown to the Gambia we thought we would try it by road!! (It seemed like a good idea at the time). We are raising money for GAFSIP (Gambia and Avon Fire Services In Partnership). www.gafsip.org

GAFSIP is a charitable trust which makes a real difference in The Gambia by sending over redundant firefighting, health and educational equipment. We also run training programmes and equip schools. Most of the goods sent would have been scrapped or land-filled here in the UK. You can see some pictures at http://vmphoto.photobox.co.uk/album/6941726

The Local Authorities that donate these goods cannot contribute to shipping costs so this is where GAFSIP comes in. It raises funds purely to cover shipping costs – there are no administration costs and all time and work is given voluntarily.

Please, we need your help, ie. your money!

                      And remember... Don't Panic!!!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us. Gambia and Avon Fire Services In Partnership (GAFSIP) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
