I’m from Peru and have been living in England for 19 years, marrying and English man called Steve nearly 17 years ago.
Each year I go back to Peru to see family. And each year, I see children begging on the streets of Lima, some selling sweets to survive. They are often very young, perhaps 4 or 5 years old. It makes my heart very sad to see children surviving like that.
Last year I met Angela Murray from Toybox, and she told me that the charity was looking into the possibility of supporting projects in Peru. My heart was full of joy to know that it isn’t just me that cares for these children. After knowing this I really want give my best support to this charity. I’m very pleased to be taking part in the London Marathon for street children in Latin America.
I think children are very precious and I have always had a heart for young people. When you give a chiId the encouragement, time, patience and kindness they need, they will flourish into lovely people. Toybox is supporting people who are giving street children the love and care they deserve. This is why I will run the marathon, and I hope I will put smile on the children's faces and give them hope for the future.
