In July, I’m taking part in Avebury Rocks, walking 20 miles to raise money for Prospect Hospice with Love Hope Strength Foundation, a music-oriented cancer charity. Please help me to support LHSF (and give me a kick up the bum to do this walk) by sponsoring me what you can.

 

The longer version:

 

On 9th July, I’ll be going on a 20-mile walk across the Wiltshire countryside to raise money for Prospect Hospice with Love Hope Strength Foundation and my favourite guitar wrangler, Nick Harper, The Alarm’s Mike Peters, and a few hundred other people. The walk will begin and end at Avebury Henge, and cover about 20 miles of fabulous scenery across the Ridgeway, Britain’s oldest "road". The day will be topped off with the concert… Avebury Rocks!

 

One of my goals for this year is to live healthier — eat better and exercise more. I’ve failed at this for the last couple of years, so this year I’m giving myself something to work towards, and what better target than raising dosh for a worthy cause?

 

LHSF organises and promotes music-related events to support leukaemia and cancer patients and those who are affected by it. Their fundraising activities have taken cancer survivors, well-known musicians and LHSF supporters to the dizzy heights of Everest and Kilimanjaro among other places.

 

A little closer to home than Everest or Kilimanjaro, July’s walk is being organised by one of my favourite musicians, Nick Harper. The event will be raising funds for Prospect Hospice in Swindon. Nick’s mother, Monica, spent her last days as a terminal cancer sufferer at Prospect Hospice. I’m a huge Nick Harper fan, and really chuffed to be able to support what he’s doing with this event. Many of you will know that my mum died when I was a teenager, so this is something that’s close to my heart.
